Posture

To perform a rhythm, whatever the practiced instrument, it is best to adopt a posture that enables it to be placed in the body.

The first step is to use abdominal breathing, as babies do: the belly expands during inhalation. Then one must feel the solar plexus, located right below the breastbone, between the ribs. It is here that the pulse usually manifests itself. Once this soft, natural mechanism is in place, the beat subdivision places itself behind the shoulders. Rhythm practice thus enables to unify body and spirit.
